New Year’s Party – Friendship Points |
As the year comes to a close on Winter 30th, the residents of Mineral Town hold two separate celebrations for the New Year.
You can choose to attend either the New Year’s Soba feast in Rose Plaza or the New Year’s Party to watch the first sunrise from the summit of Mother’s Hill.
New Year’s Soba
The New Year’s Soba festival is a potluck-style event where villagers gather to eat soba noodles, a tradition meant to bring good luck for the coming year.
This is the only way to obtain Buckwheat Flour in the game.

Event Details
To join the New Year’s Soba celebration, enter Rose Plaza any time after 6:00 PM on Winter 30th. Make sure you have at least one empty slot in your backpack for the prize you’ll receive.

You can talk to the villagers in attendance for a friendship boost. When you’re ready to begin the meal, speak to Mayor Thomas.
After the event you will wake up at home the next morning.
New Year’s Party
The New Year’s Party is a more serene event where villagers gather at the summit of Mother’s Hill to watch the first sunrise of the new year together.

Event Details
To attend the New Year’s Party event, you must go to the summit of Mother’s Hill after 12:00 AM (midnight) on the night of Winter 30th.

Speak to all the villagers present to trigger the main event. After watching the sunrise, you will automatically return to your farmhouse to start the new year.
Prizes & Benefits
Buckwheat Flour (Soba Only)
If you attend the New Year’s Soba, you will find 9 bags of Buckwheat Flour in your backpack the next morning. This is a rare cooking ingredient that is primarily used to make Zaru Soba.

Friendship Points
Attending either festival is an easy way to boost your friendship with the villagers who are present.
