In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, you’ll get the Stocking from Ellen by bringing her yarn between Winter 1st-23rd. But this event can only occur once you have at least 8 friendship notes with Ellen.

Getting Ellen’s stocking is also part of another event called the Thomas Claus event. This is a reoccurring event that only happens if you have the Stocking/Sock hanging on your wall on Winter 25th.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to get the Stocking.

Step 1: Befriend Ellen

Ellen is an easy villager to befriend, and she’s always at home (directly next to Mayor Thomas’ residence).

You can visit her from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM as she never leaves and sits in her rocking chair for most of the day.

To trigger the Stocking event, you’ll need to have at least 8 friendship notes with Ellen. You can quickly boost your friendship with her by giving her gifts like Honey, fruits, and animal products like Cheese and Yarn.

Step 2: Obtain a Ball of Yarn (Any Size)

While you’re working on your friendship with Ellen, you can focus on taking care of Sheep, Angora Rabbits, or Alpacas.

These barn animals can give you fleece or fur that can be turned into a yarn.

The farmer harvests Fleece from an Alpaca.

But to process the fur or fleece you’ll also need the Yarn Maker. So there is a decent amount that you’ll need to do before you can get the stocking.

Note: Angora Rabbits can regrow their fur in 5 days after being sheared. Sheep and Alpacas need 7 days to fully regrow their fleece after being sheared.

Step 3: Ask Ellen to Knit You a Stocking

When it’s Winter, you can visit Ellen with your ball of Yarn to obtain your Stocking.

Simply hold the Yarn in your hands and interact with her to start the event – but there are some conditions.

These are all the requirements to get Ellen to knit you the Stocking:

Visit her from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
It must be any day starting from Winter 1st until the 23rd (except Wednesdays)
It is not stormy
You have a Yarn Maker installed in the Barn or Coop
You have not given Ellen any gifts on the day before you give her the yarn

Note: If Ellen will not accept the yarn ball when you try to give it to her, that likely means you’ve already given her a gift for that day. To solve this just wait until the next day and give her the yarn as the very first gift of that day.

After the cutscene, Ellen will give you the Stocking to hang on your wall in preparation for Starlight Night.

Thomas Claus on Winter 25th

After putting the Stocking up on the coat hook in your farmhouse, go to sleep between 9:00 PM and 12:00 AM on Winter 25th.

Instead of waking up the next day as you normally would, you’ll first see a cutscene with Mayor Thomas entering the farmhouse and placing a gift into the Stocking.

Mayor Thomas enters the farmhouse for Thomas Claus.

The next day you can look into your Stocking to find any one of the following gifts:

Alexandrite
Mithril
Moonstone
Orichalcum
Sandrose

This event will also give you +20 Friendship Points with Mayor Thomas.
