Whenever you turn on the TV at exactly 4:40 AM in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, you’ll get a creepy static screen and a string of cryptic numbers.
What does this mean?
First of all, nothing else will happen to you – it’s just an easter egg designed to scare players, especially when you’re staying up so late in-game.
But this TV glitch does have an in-game purpose!
According to the official Japanese guide book, the TV will give you cryptic messages that hint at the 3 ways to bless your cursed tools.

But there’s another reason why it happens at 4:44:
In Japanese superstition, the number 4 represents death and is generally considered unlucky.
The TV “glitch” or easter egg you get at this time is supposed to be a kind of nod to the Japanese culture.

This glitch is also a reference to the original Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town game, where the same thing would happen at 4:44 AM.
However, in the original Harvest Moon: FoMT game you’d be stuck in an endless dialogue loop and ruin your entire save file.
Thankfully, that doesn’t happen in the Story of Seasons remake.
