The Axe is one of the essential starting tools in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. It is used to clear your farmland of wood debris, specifically tree branches and stumps (once upgraded).
The Axe is available from the very beginning of the game. You can find it stored inside the Tool Box located on your farm, right next to your house.

Axe Upgrades
You can upgrade your Axe at Saibara’s Blacksmith shop to make it more efficient at clearing stumps. Higher-level upgrades require specific ores and a certain amount of experience using the tool.
