The Cook-Off and Bake-Off are consecutive festivals that happen across the first Monday & Tuesday in Autumn. These festivals together make up the game’s two Cooking Festivals.

In the Cook-Off & Bake-Off events, competitors showcase their cooking and baking skills by entering their best dishes. The contests are judged by Pierre, a world-class food critic and recurring character from the original iteration of Grand Bazaar.

Winning the Cook-Off and/or Bake-Off will earn you a trophy for your memento case, as well as some cooking recipes, cooking ingredients, and a boost to Friendship with all villagers.

How to Enter

On the day of the Cook-Off after 12PM noon, bring your best cooked Main Dish to the Town Plaza and speak to Felix. You’ll need to have the dish you’d like to enter in your hands, so be careful not to eat it when speaking to the mayor.

After you’ve entered your dish, you will be pitted against three random villagers. Pierre will judge each dish, offering his opinions before finally announcing the winners.

The Bake-Off follows the same formula:

The day after the Cook-Off, bring your best dessert to the Town Plaza. Speak to Felix again (any time after noon but before 4PM) and wait for Pierre to finish judging each competitor’s dessert.

Cook-Off & Bake-Off Event Details

The Cook-Off and Bake-Off work essentially the same way, with the main difference being whether you’ve entered a Main Dish (Cook-Off) or a Dessert (Bake-Off).

Your dishes will be judged based on their selling price and star quality, so it’s a good idea to stock up on some high-quality ingredients before the festivals. Some things to consider:

  • A high-quality dish that sells for very little may not be as likely to win
  • Similarly, a 0.5☆ Dish with a very high selling price could place well

If you want some easy dishes to help you win both events, then these options are suggested in the SoS:GB Japanese guide book as easy-win dishes:
