Happy Energy is a unique secondary currency in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, completely separate from the standard in-game currency (G). It can only be used at the Happy Shoppe.
You earn Happy Energy by completing various everyday activities throughout the game, allowing you to trade HE for exclusive sprite-themed rewards and items.
Unlocking Happy Energy
You first encounter the Nature Sprites is on Spring 13 of Year 1 in a cutscene where they introduce themselves and explain that they need your help gathering Happy Energy.
On Spring 15 of Year 1, the Nature Sprites officially open their bazaar stall called the Happy Shoppe.
During the grand opening you receive a free Glider as a gift.
The Happy Shoppe is the only place where Happy Energy can be spent.
At this stall you can purchase a variety of exclusive items, including special equipment, bazaar decorations, storage boxes, recipes, and other unique sprite-themed goods.
How To Obtain Happy Energy
Happy Energy is earned through a wide variety of everyday farming and social activities. Nearly everything you do in the game – such as farming, foraging, fishing, socializing, cooking, and using the windmills – has a chance to reward you with Happy Energy Points.
Below is a table associating in-game tasks with the chance of you earning HE from doing each task. The amount of points you earn per task seem to be random.

When you collect Happy Energy points, a notification will appear on the right side of the screen showing your total Happy Energy, and the amount of HE you gained from your current action (the HE you gained is displayed in red).
Items That Boost HE
You can boost the amount of Happy Energy you gain by consuming special meals purchased from the Happy Shoppe using Happy Energy.
Examples of these meals include the Happy Forest Mix, Happy Mushroom Fry, Happy Chef Salad, and the Happy Fruit Platter.
Consuming these meals increases the Happy Energy earned from actions for a limited time. You can also learn the recipes for these meals to cook them yourself in your kitchen.
Friendship Level Rewards
Happy Energy is also tied to the Nature Sprite Friendship Level system.
By giving the correct preferred gifts to the five Nature Sprites, you can increase their friendship levels – and each time you level up a Nature Sprite’s friendship, you are awarded bonus Happy Energy.
