Pets in Grand Bazaar are dogs and cats that live in your house. Unlike livestock, they don’t produce by-products, but they make daily farm life much easier by herding your barn animals.
Cats herd chickens, while dogs herd the larger animals. They herd animals outside during the day and return them into the barn before nightfall.
You can own up to 4 cats and 4 dogs throughout the game.
Getting Your First Pet
On Year 1, Summer 1, Ramon visits your farm to announce the upcoming Pet Show and gifts you your very first pet.
You get to choose between a cat or dog, as well as its color or breed.

After this, pets become available for purchase at Ramon’s Critters at the bazaar every Saturday. Cat and dog breeds change every week, so keep an eye out for your favorite pets.

Increasing Pet Friendship
Feeding
Pets typically eat once a day, around 5-6 PM, after herding the farm animals back into the barn. To keep them healthy and increase your friendship, fill their pet bowl with Pet Food inside your house.
For extra friendship points, you can hand-feed them the Pet Food before their regular feeding time. Pets that aren’t fed for the day will lose friendship points.

Pet Food can be purchased from Miguel’s Mercantile or crafted at the Red Windmill using Wheat.
Petting
Pets love attention! And they will sometimes ask to be petted by showing a pink hand icon.
It’s good to pet your cats and dogs once a day to raise your friendship level with them. Simply stand near them and left-click to pet.

Pet Shows
Entering your pets into Pet Shows allows you to win an award, additionally increasing your pet’s friendship level & also their training level.

Pet Training
A trained pet can herd more animals and has a better chance at winning Pet Shows.
To train your pet, give them a Pet Treat. Equip the treat, stand near your pet, and press the action button to start the training minigame.

Five prompts will appear on screen, one at a time. You should follow them correctly to earn training points.
After a successful session, a fire icon will appear above your pet to indicate an increase in training level.
| Training Level | Animals Herded Per Day |
|---|---|
| 0 🔥 | 1 |
| 1-2 🔥 | 2 |
| 3-4 🔥 | 3 |
| 5-6 🔥 | 4 |

Pet Personalities
Every pet has one of five personality types.
While this does not affect training or herding, personality influences how they behave around the house and interact with other pets.

| Personality | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Shy | Vocalizes often and seeks out other pets. May wander or sulk. |
| Independent | Prefers to be alone and quiet. May act aloof or irritated. |
| Energetic | Runs and plays actively. Dogs often chase their own tail. |
| Gentle | Quiet and calm. Cats with this personality nap frequently. |
| Mischievous | Sociable and playful with other pets. Rarely aggressive. |
