Storage allows you to keep a variety of items saved for use outside of your bag.

You can store most item types including crops, forageables, fish, animal products, and other materials. But your tools cannot be placed into storage.

Keeping items in storage helps you manage your inventory more efficiently. Items with freshness in your storage also spoil at a slower rate compared to items in your bag.

Accessing Storage

At the start of the game you can only access your storage while at your house. There are two primary entry points: inside your home on the left near your bed (also in the kitchen), and outside your home to the left of your front door.

You also have a basket directly outside your house which lets you quickly place items into storage.

Note: The basket outside your house cannot be used to access your storage, and it can only place items into storage.

Additional Storage Boxes

Additional storage locations become available after unlocking the Happy Shoppe at the bazaar.

Once the shop is open, you can purchase extra storage boxes that are placed in various locations around the map, making it much more convenient to access your stored items while exploring or working in different areas.

These storage boxes cost Happy Energy rather than standard currency (G). You also have the opportunity to purchase special storage boxes that allow you to warp to your home storage, giving you a quick and more efficient way to get back home from wherever you are.

Storage Expansions

Your storage can be expanded as you progress through the game.

You’ll begin with only 24 available slots by default. But storage expansions can be purchased from Wilbur’s Workshop at the weekly bazaar on Saturdays. These upgrades usually take just one day to complete and will add more item slots to your storage box, up to a maximum upgrade of 312 slots.

You can also purchase additional storage improvements from Garon’s Construction, which allow your stored items to maintain their freshness for a longer period of time.

Capacity Upgrades (Wilbur’s Workshop)

These upgrades increase total storage slots. Upgrades include things like the Small Storage Expansion, Modest Storage Expansion, and Grand Storage Expansion. Visit the Wilbur’s Workshop page here for a full list.

Freshness Upgrades (Garon’s Construction)

These upgrades slow the rate at which stored items spoil. You can see a full list of these upgrades on our Garon’s Construction page here.

It’s highly recommended to prioritize these storage upgrades early, as having ample storage is essential for keeping all the items you collect and staying organized throughout the game.

Storage Organization

To quickly organize the items in your storage, press the - button on the Nintendo Switch controller.

This opens the sorting menu, where you can automatically arrange both your storage and your bag by specific categories such as crops, animal products, forageables, and other item types.
