Each year in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar is divided into four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Each season has 31 days in total.

And the season you’re in determines which crops you can grow, which bugs and fish appear, and which events or festivals take place.

This page explains how time & seasons flow in the game to help you plan your daily tasks, prepare for festivals, and manage story progression more efficiently.

Time Flow

The current Season, Day, and Time are displayed in the top-right corner of the screen’s HUD.

Time passes at a rate of 1 in-game hour = 1 real-world minute, so 1 second IRL = 1 minute in-game.

Tip: Most story events and festivals skip time after they play, so double-check your schedule before triggering one.

If you need to step away or if you want to stop time for a bit, just open your Pause Menu, Inventory, or Map screen.

Time Limits & Sleeping

Sleeping advances time to the next day, and your wake-up time will depend on when you go to bed.

Additionally, the game will always force you to go to bed if you stay up until 5:00 AM. So the hours of 5:00-5:59 AM are completely unplayable.

Note: If you forcibly stay awake until 5:00 AM then your character will pass out anyways. Be sure to go to bed each night!

The Calendar System

The calendar is posted inside your house beside the display shelf.

It shows the current year, season, and day, and marks key events in Zephyr Town.

Festival Dates

Unlike most other Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games, the festival dates in Grand Bazaar aren’t tied to specific days.

Instead they’re based on a day of the week (e.g., “2nd Tuesday of Spring” or “Friday after the Flower Festival”).

In the Japanese game guide book for SoS:GB, all festivals are referenced based on the start of the season, or based on the festival’s relationship to other festivals. That’s why we’ve also listed out all the festival dates on this wiki in the same fashion.

Flower Festival falls on the 2nd Tuesday of Spring
Flower Festival falls on the 2nd Tuesday of Spring

This means festival dates shift each year depending on which weekday the year starts on.

Calendar Cycles

From Year 8 onward, the calendar repeats itself.

So the in-game calendar has a repeating 7-year cycle.

Each year has 17 weeks + 5 extra days, which moves the first day of Spring forward by 5 days each year.

Below is a list of the calendar cycles to give you a better idea of how this mechanic works.

Calendar Year Spring Day 1 Similar Years
Year 1 Saturday Years 8, 15, 22, 29…
Year 2 Thursday Years 9, 16, 23, 30…

Seasons

Grand Bazaar treats each season as one month in-game.

And each season brings its own crops, bugs, fish, festivals, and unique weather patterns. Many items are exclusive to a specific season, although some items can appear in multiple seasons as well.

Note: Beyond unique crops and festivals, each season also brings subtle scenery changes that make the town feel alive. We’ve added screenshots of these below.
