Fertilizer is an item you can use on your fields to raise the quality of your planted crops and growing trees.
You can craft Fertilizer at any of the three windmills with just two Weeds, or you can buy Fertilizer from Miguel’s Mercantile or Felix’s Fixings year-round for 28 G.
Usage
- Crop Quality — Scatter Fertilizer on your planted field plots to raise the quality of your planted crops. This effect only occurs if you also water those crops the same day, and fertilizing without watering has no effect.
- Double Watering Bonus — Watering your crops twice a day boosts growth speed and Fertilizer effectiveness by 1.4×. Rainy days automatically count as double-watering.
- Effects on Fruit Trees — Fertilizer works differently depending on a tree’s growth stage. When a tree is still growing, Fertilizer raises the final fruit quality just like regular crops. But once a tree is in any of its mature stages, fertilizing only increases the number of fruits you’ll harvest.
- Rare Crop Rate — Once a crop’s quality has been maxed out with Fertilizer, you can keep apply Fertilizer to convert the overflow quality into a higher rare crop mutation chance. Using ★7 Fertilizer on a max-quality crop can increase the mutation rate from roughly ~2% up to 30%+.
- Fertilizer Quality Matters — Use higher-quality Weeds to improve the final output quality of your Fertilizer.
- Increasing Application Range — By default, you can cover one tile at a time, costing 5 stamina per fertilization. Jumping and double-jumping can widen the application grid to fertilize faster, though it costs a bit more stamina.
- Mushrooms Can’t Be Fertilized — Fertilizer cannot be used on mushrooms, and your mushroom quality can only be raised via your Sprite Level with Webby.
